FLEXPIPE Systems spent considerable time researching and developing our joining system. After conducting hundreds of tests we have exceeded our expectations for our field-friendly reliable joining system.
FLEXPIPE Systems has both a pipe-to-pipe coupling to join reels of pipe, and an end fitting complete with a standard ASME B16.5 lap-joint flange, designed to terminate the pipeline materials.
Both fittings are metallic devices that fasten to the pipe using a mechanical system. They are installed using specialized installation equipment that energizes the fitting. The energizing force creates a clamping pressure that holds the pipe in place and provides a seal between the thermoplastic liner and the fitting. For additional seal reliability the fitting is equipped with two o-rings. The fitting system does not require the application of heat or adhesives.
End fittings and splice fitting available with different coatings designed for specific applications. Uncoated fittings are designed for non-corrosive environments, thermo-plastic coated fitting designed for moderately corrosive applications and electroless nickel coated fittings designed for CO2 rich environments, erosive or severely corrosive applications.
In the spring of 2005, FLEXPIPE Systems introduced a new fitting called a Weldneck Fitting. A Weldneck Fitting is a fitting designed for sweet service, non corrosive environment where a transition from Flexpipe to steel is required and a buried flange connection is undesirable. Using this type of fitting is beneficial as it is a way of joining Flexpipe to steel without having a bolt-up thereby reducing the possibility of a gas leak due to human error when tightening the bolts.
